José Grau

Jose Grau - The author was born January 1, 1931, into a family of nominal Spanish Catholics and was exposed to the anarchist and atheist writers. However, after reading a portion of the Gospel of John published in a magazine, he went and bought a Bible. Discouraged with the local Catholic church, he began attending Protestant services and was converted in 1953. Working with evangelical organizations, he began to write and publish Christian books and materials. On Good Friday of 1960 he was arrested by Spanish police for distributing “clandestine literature.” He later used a pseudonym and a U.S. publisher’s lable to avoid reprisals. He has served as a professor at seminaries in Spain and France. As a theologian he delivered important addresses at the World Congress on Evangelism at Lausanne, Switzerland, and served on the Committee of Biblical Union.
