The author shares the premise that God has created sexuality for pleasure within marriage and not to cause suffering. The book seeks to bring liberty to married couples. Sexual difficulties, both wrong statements and wrong thought patterns, are cited as among the most frequent causes of marital discord. The problem comes not from the sexual symptoms but rather from thinking that there is no solution for these marital problems. This last misconception has been and continues to be one of the most damaging ideas threatening marriages today. The struggles resulting from sexual difficulties may slowly dim the flame of love or the couple may resort to a variety of damaging practices, that does nothing more than aggravate marital difficulties.
